Trail Work 2024

At Togakushi Ranch, located in the heavy snowfall region of Nagano Prefecture, barbed wire fences are removed each autumn in preparation for winter and reinstalled in spring. This essential maintenance prevents fences from being damaged by the weight of accumulated snow. During winter, the cattle are relocated, awaiting the return of spring grazing season.

This year, local runners once again helped with the barbed wire installation. The view of Mt. Togakushi during the work is truly spectacular. We encourage you to visit during daylight hours to take in the beauty of the area!

This year, as part of a course change, we replaced an aging wooden bridge that had deteriorated over years of exposure to wind and rain. Providing a safe and comfortable trail for everyone is a critical task. The new bridge was carefully installed to ensure safe passage for all who cross it.

We also cleared overgrown sections to restore a formerly used trail, bringing a beautiful path back to life.
